BT NOW is an innovative, water-based biological insecticide that leverages a unique strain of Bacillus thuringiensis ssp. kurstaki (Btk) to effectively control caterpillars of various moths and butterflies across a wide range of crops. Upon ingestion, BT NOW paralyzes the insect’s digestive system within hours, halting further crop damage. The larvae perish within 2-5 days.

Mode of Action:

BT NOW utilizes natural insecticidal endotoxins, called “cry toxins,” found in Bacillus thuringiensis ssp. kurstaki (Btk). When ingested by the larval stage of target lepidoptera pests, these toxins bind to specific receptors in the insect’s gut, disrupting and paralyzing digestive functions. This halts feeding within hours, and the affected larvae die within 2-5 days as Btk spores proliferate inside the pest.

Caterpillar Control in Fall Ornamentals:

Combine BT NOW with Trichogramma, a naturally occurring biological organism that targets lepidoptera species, to create an effective caterpillar management program. This combination provides excellent caterpillar control without harmful residues and without disrupting beneficial insect populations.

Usage Instructions:

Bacillus thuringiensis ssp. kurstaki products have a proven track record of safe and effective use in agriculture, forestry, and ornamental pest management. BT NOW is most effective on young, actively feeding larvae. Employ early scouting programs to identify caterpillar infestations and apply at the first signs of feeding. Thoroughly cover foliage to ensure the product is consumed by the pests. Repeat applications as necessary to maintain control.
